The best time to take a train tour to Machu Picchu is during the dry season, which runs from May to September. During this time, the weather is generally clear and comfortable, with little chance of rain. However, the shoulder seasons of April and October can also be a great time to visit, as the crowds are smaller and the prices are lower.
The length of a train tour to Machu Picchu can vary depending on the specific tour package. However, most tours last between 1-3 days, with the option to add on additional activities or extend your stay if desired.
Our train tours to Machu Picchu typically include transportation on the train, accommodation in Aguas Calientes or nearby, guided tours of Machu Picchu and other nearby attractions, and some meals. Some packages may also include additional activities or experiences, such as a visit to the Sacred Valley or a trek on the Inca Trail.
Our tours typically use the Vistadome or Expedition trains, which offer comfortable seating, panoramic windows, and some additional amenities such as snacks and entertainment. For those looking for a more luxurious experience, we also offer the Hiram Bingham train, which includes gourmet meals, cocktails, and live entertainment.
The hike to Machu Picchu can vary in difficulty depending on the specific route and the hiker’s fitness level. The classic Inca Trail can be challenging, with steep climbs and high altitude, but there are also alternative routes and options for those looking for a more moderate or leisurely hike. Our tours are designed to cater to a range of fitness levels and interests, and we can help you choose the best option for your needs.
We recommend booking your train tour to Machu Picchu as far in advance as possible, as availability can be limited during peak season. Generally, we suggest booking at least 3-6 months in advance to ensure you get the dates and package that you want. However, we can often accommodate last-minute bookings as well, so don’t hesitate to contact us even if you’re planning a trip on short notice.
What else to say about this beautiful, historic and amazing place. We hiked up the Wayna piccu to get an overlook on the maccu piccu and where lucky. It was absolutely breathtaking!
Our trip in May was my second to Cusco and the first one for my friend. I already had in mind to visit WaynaPicchu since I couldn’t do it in my first trip (my kids were too small for such a hike) and it was more than I expected. Maybe it was the anticipation, or maybe it was the hour hike it took to get there…
It was an awesome climb! And it was Not near as physically challenging as the four day Inca Trail. Looks intimidating but it was fairly safe for a 60+ year old (that is in good physical shape). It took my wife & I about 30 to 40 minutes to climb. It had steel cable handrails along the mountain side for many parts of the climb. You should be acclimated to the elevation prior to climbing. And train on hikes and/or stair master. Spectacular views. Worth the climb and price.
